It was the world's first activated carbon filter to reduce pollutants in the tobacco sector. The activated carbon filters pollutants, nicotine and condensate even more effectively from the smoke. VAUEN held the worldwide patent for this special product for 20 years. Initially ridiculed by other pipe manufacturers, this groundbreaking innovation was soon recognized as a real asset for the tobacco industry. As a result, most pipe manufacturers switched to pipes with 9mm filter bores either additionally or exclusively. With this invention, VAUEN set a far-reaching and global trend in motion. Over 95% of all German pipe connoisseurs today smoke with an activated carbon filter. The effective filtration and the dry, cool smoking pleasure of the Dr. Perl junior filters make it the best-selling 9mm activated carbon filter worldwide.
In order to further optimize the filtration performance, VAUEN has been equipping all pipe models with the Conex system since 1968. A conical sleeve in the mouthpiece of the pipe enables the filter to fit exactly and prevents the smoke from flowing past. Another pioneering invention from VAUEN for the high demands of true pipe enthusiasts.
