Cohiba Cigars

Cohiba is the top brand among Habanos. It was personally created in 1966 for the Máximo Líder Fidel Castro. Its place of origin was a big secret for a long time, because nobody should know where it came from. Basically, Cohiba was the unofficial house brand of the state leadership for a long time and was practically impossible to get hold of outside of this circle. With one big exception: as a gift, which was only reserved for high-ranking state guests.
It was not until 1982 that the decision was made to put a limited contingent on the open market. At this point at the latest, the place of origin became well known among the aficionados of this world: the El Laguito factory in Havana. The former villa of a sugar baron is the cradle of this first post-revolutionary brand. It's well out of town in the Cubanacán neighborhood, which is why its location has been kept secret for so long. Here the selection of the selection is combined into a Cohiba - the ultimate among Habanos.
Even the expression Cohiba is unique, because it is not a word of Spanish origin, but a loan word from the local Taíno Indians and describes the wrap of the tobacco leaves. Many different properties make a Cohiba the most exclusive of the Habanos. First of all, the origin of the leaves - they come exclusively from the five best Vegas de Primera from the tobacco-growing region of Vuelta Abajo, specifically from the areas of San Juan y Martínez and San Luis. Another unique feature of a Cohiba is the - third - fermentation of two of the three filler leaves - this gives the Cohiba its irresistible aroma and inimitable taste.

All Cohiba formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga – long fillers made entirely by hand.
