For the first time in its 35-year history, 5TH Avenue Products – the official sole importer of Habanos for Germany, Austria and Poland – has selected the Diplomáticos brand for an Edición Regional format. And what a thing! The Diplomáticos Grandes have the “Laguito Especial” format, made famous by the legendary Trinidad Fundadores. With a length of 192 mm and a ring gauge of 40, it is without a doubt one of the most elegant and beautiful formats from Habanos. The run of this regional edition will consist of 4,800 individually numbered boxes, each containing 25 pieces of these aromatic and medium to strong cigars. As is typical of the brand, the boxes have two layers and are decorated with the lithographs known in Cuba as “habilitaciones”. Habanos connoisseurs all over the world are increasingly appreciating such classic, slim formats, which require more care and dedication when enjoying the cigars. While new global launches of Habanos tend to follow international trends, the “Ediciones Regionales” offer importers the opportunity to fulfill the special wishes of cigar lovers. Diplomáticos is one of the few Habanos brands that, like Cohiba or Trinidad, were only created after the revolution. Today there is only one format in the standard range, the Diplomáticos No.2. This pyramid is highly sought after by connoisseurs, but is unfortunately only rarely manufactured. The Habanos brand Diplomáticos has only existed since the 1960s. It is said to have been created closely based on the “Montecristo” brand. Interestingly, it was initially only intended for the French market. All of the brand's formats were and are made “totalmente a mano” - completely by hand - and consist of tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo growing zone.
