Punch is one of the oldest Habanos brands. Don Manuel Lopez of Juan Valle & Co. founded this brand in the mid-19th century with an eye on the profitable British market, where the satirical magazine of the same name, which had been published since 1841, was very fashionable. A contented Mr. Punch, the clown who represented the magazine, can still be seen cigar in hand on every brand's case. It is surrounded by illustrations showing cigar manufacture in the 19th century. The way it is made has survived practically unchanged for a century and a half.
In 1931, Punch moved to the La Corona factory, where Hoyo de Monterrey cigars were also made. To this day, both brands are still made in the La Corona factory.
Punch's distinctive medium-bodied flavor cigars, made from a blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco growing zone, are available in a wide variety of formats. All formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga – long fillers made entirely by hand.
