The Saint Luis Rey brand was created just before World War II. Some say the brand name refers to Thornton Wilder's play The Bridge of San Luis Rey, which was popular at the time. However, it is more likely that it is dedicated to the city of San Luis, in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region, whose area continues to produce excellent wrappers for Habanos to this day. Whatever the truth, Saint Luis Rey cigars enjoy an excellent reputation among cigar lovers due to the intense taste of all formats. They are made from leaves from the Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta regions.
This format is 'totalmente a mano, tripa larga' - longfillers made entirely by hand.
