San Cristóbal de La Habana was the original name of Havana, the capital of Cuba, when it was founded in 1519. The naming in honor of San Cristóbal, known in German as Saint Christopher, is based on the fact that the city was founded on the name day of San Cristóbal.
Incidentally, La Habana is an Indian name for space. The San Cristóbal de La Habana brand was launched in 1999, just before the start of the new millennium, in honor of the city's long history.
