The Trinidad brand is named after the beautiful city of La Santísima Trinidad (English: The Holy Trinity), which was built in the 16th century. It is located on the southern coast of Cuba and is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Trinidad has existed as a brand since 1969. Like the Cohiba, it was made exclusively as a gift for foreign diplomats. It was only released for general sale in 1998 - but only in small quantities. At first there was only one format from the Trinidad brand: the Fundadores. In 2003, three more were added: the Reyes and the Coloniales. At the same time, the design of the brand and the cigar rings were revised. In 2015, the Trinidad Vigía was added to the range, a contemporary format with a large ring gauge. The cigars of the Trinidad brand were made in the El Laguito factory, the Cohiba factory, for a few years. The special tobacco blends with filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco cultivation zone make this brand so exclusive. Today the production is located in the city of Pinar del Rio, the most important city in the Vuelta Abajo. All formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga – long fillers made entirely by hand.
