In 1984 Bernard Grobet had a cigar made. The Griffin's cigars produced in the Dominican Republic were so popular with Grobet's guests that they were soon sold in Swiss specialty shops and, from 1989, in the USA. The company Davidoff of Geneva in Stamford was entrusted with the export. In 1992, Grobet sold the brand to the Oettinger Davidoff Group in Basel, which has been distributing "The Griffin's" worldwide ever since and has been continuously developing it with new formats.
