It happened on a summer day last year. Rafael Nodal had just put on one of his beloved jazz records - the inimitable sound of Duke Ellington was already twitching in his legs, the Roaring 20s were almost tangible - when he paused in amazement. He suddenly realized that he would dedicate the latest premium creation from Tabacalera de Garcia to this famous decade. And with that the “Capitol” was at the start. Rafael's extraordinary connections helped attract none other than Nestor Plasencia to the "Capitol" - one of the best and most legendary cigar producers in the world.
The "Capitol" confidently quotes the 1920s, the cigar ring and the boxes adorn an Art Deco building in which ladies in gold dresses and a fast Charleston would fit. It starts off soft and creamy with slightly earthy notes, accompanied by a hint of sweetness. In the second third, Plasencia's signature is even more noticeable: it becomes spicier, earthier, and wonderful aromas of cedar join in. The last third seduces with intense tobacco aromas, which are further accompanied by a lovely, creamy sweetness.
“A hell of a smoke,” says Rafael Nodal during our meeting at the PCA. And he is so right! Even during the meeting, the glowing end of his "Capitol" attracted us, just as the green light from across the bay once attracted Jay Gatsby. The Great Gatsby wanted Daisy Buchanan, we wanted nothing but The Capitol. We can finally present you the three formats of this spectacular series: Jack (Robusto), Casino (Robusto Grande) and Gala (Double Robusto). Welcome the Roaring Twenties into your humidor and close your eyes as you hear the first puffs of your “Capitol”…
