Ten years ago, to the delight of many aficionados, the first iconic-exotic Escurio cigar was released. For the tenth birthday of this modern classic, we have revived this blend in our own way. The use of matured Brazilian tobacco – a rarity that cannot be found anywhere else in the world – and the harmonious connection with the gentle notes of our unmistakable creaminess result in a smooth samba that inspires from beginning to end. A true carnival of taste that celebrates the high art of Davidoff. This limited edition, which is the second of its kind within the Black Band Collection and highlights Davidoff's leadership and pioneering role in blending cigars of different origins, reflects the special feature of the Bahia coastal region, which is characterized by its humid, salty climate. This special terroir in combination with the irregular and harsh rainfall gives the tobacco its robust and spicy taste. The Dominican tobacco, on the other hand, thrives in regions with constant and controlled fresh water and balanced climates, give the cigar its characteristic gentleness and creaminess. The tobaccos in this limited edition have an impressive total age of 45 years, thanks to Davidoff's extensive tobacco population. In fact, no Brazilian tobacco of this age is available to anyone else. For the first time, our Blender Yamasá visual beacon has mixed into the inlay that has matured for six months in bourbon barrels. This unique maturation gives the cigar extra depth, complexity and sweetness and makes it an incomparable pleasure – a true samba of taste. The 12 Gran-Toro cigars come in a numbered wooden box, which shows the lovingly painted Escurio pattern. The frame reflects the eye-catching color of the Escurio line around the box, and a 10th Anniversary sticker on the lid highlights the special occasion. At the beginning, the Gran Toro inspires with creamy notes, roasted aromas and a touch of coffee – a combination reminiscent of a cappucino. A long aftertaste, similar to that of a pralin, lingers on the palate and is accompanied by nuances of vanilla pod. In the middle third, the constantly changing aromas unfold into a fruity note, which is accompanied by the pleasant sweetness of the dominican insert tobacco matured in the whiskey combination. Dominant leather flavors, intensified by a hint of licorice, balance the sweetness perfectly. Towards the end, the cigar develops spicier notes – a clear influence of the Brazilian insert tobacco on the overall aroma. Nudes of dark chocolate and almonds combine harmoniously with the sweetness of acacia honey.
