Sir Horatio Nelson is arguably the best-known admiral in the history of the Royal Navy and was revered by the English people for his numerous victories during his lifetime.
He motivated his team with courage, determination and a charismatic leadership style that was understanding rather than authoritarian.
He finally achieved legendary status when he achieved a spectacular victory in 1805 in the Battle of Trafalgar against the overwhelming fleet of the allied Spanish and French. After the battle ended, he succumbed to gunshot wounds.
However, the French fleet was permanently weakened here, making it impossible for her to conquer England. The admiral thus laid the foundation for decades of British naval dominance on the seven seas. The Victory Column was erected in his honor in Trafalgar Square, London.
Barling is now dedicating a series of his own to the great strategist. For this we had a solid silver application made in the form of a wrapped ship rope.
