The idea for this classic was born in 1987 in the pub 'The Horse & Hound'. The legendary pipe importer Töff Seiffert was once again visiting the city to buy the novelties for the German market from his friend Jim Nicholson. After a busy day, the dried out throats had to be wetted. From both gentlemen is handed down that they were not only drinking, but the alcohol even increased the creative potential. When the gentlemen then saw a statue of Sherlock Holmes' counterfeit with a whistle, they both knew immediately what to do. ...

The prelude was celebrated with the original. Six other models followed. Later still the return series with likewise 7 models.
